PLATE NO. 015Felis catus
Exotic Shorthair
FIG. 015

Specimen

Exotic Shorthair

Often called the 'lazy man's Persian', the Exotic Shorthair has the Persian's flat face and sweet, placid nature but a short plush coat that needs far less grooming. It is calm, gently affectionate, and quietly devoted, content to lounge near you all day. The trade-off is the brachycephalic face: expect breathing, tearing, and dental issues, plus a risk of polycystic kidney disease.
