PLATE NO. 002Felis catus
American Shorthair
FIG. 002

Specimen

American Shorthair

Descended from working cats that sailed to America to guard cargo from rodents, the American Shorthair is the all-rounder: sturdy, even-tempered, and adaptable. It plays when invited and naps when not, gets along with kids and other pets, and asks little in grooming. Robust health and a long life make it one of the lowest-maintenance pedigree cats around.
